    Alice Herz Sommer was born in Prague on November 26, 1903. She was a musician, piano teacher and survivor of the Theresienstadt concentration camp. She decribes the world as "wonderful. It's full of beauty and full of miracles."

  • Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau

    Piotrkow, Poland | Buchenwald(16 minutes)

    Rabbi Lau was born in Piotrkow, Poland in 1937. He is one of the youngest survivors of Buchenwald concentration camp. He is descended from a 1000 year unbroken chain of Rabbis. He served as Chief Rabbi of Israel and is the Chairman of Yad Vashem.

    Leo Bretholz was deported from Drancy, France. He describes his daring escape from a train bound for Auschwitz.

    Riga, Latvia | Libau Ghetto | Kaiserwald(20 minutes)

    Maly Kohn was born in Riga, Latvia. She was deported to the Libau Ghetto in 1942, and is a survivor of the Kaiserwald concentration camp and other slave labor and death camps. It is my duty to tell the story especially because of the women who encouraged me and helped me survive.

  • Stephanie Heller

    Prague, Czechoslovakia | Auschwitz(17 minutes)

    Stephanie and her identical twin sister, Annetta, were born in Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1924. They were deported to Auschwitz. They are survivors of Mengele’s experiments.

    She believes every person has something good in them.
